Image Privacy
D8 gives you meaningful control over who sees your images and when. This page explains how image visibility works across profiles and chat, and what to expect at each membership tier.
Profile Image Types
Your profile can contain up to three types of images depending on your membership tier.
Public Images Visible to all D8 members. These should represent you well in any context — see our Image Guidelines for what is and isn't permitted.
Private Images Available to premium members. Private images are blurred for anyone who views your profile until a mutual connection is established, at which point they are revealed automatically. This lets you share a more personal side of yourself with people you've genuinely connected with.
Sensitive Images Available to premium members. Sensitive images are tasteful but more personal — think swimwear, lingerie, or similar. Before a mutual connection, sensitive images are indistinguishable from private images — blurred with no label. Once a mutual connection is established, premium viewers will see an NSFW label and can choose to reveal the image by tapping it. Sensitive images are never explicit. Nudity is not permitted anywhere on D8 profiles.

What Happens If You Downgrade
If your premium membership lapses or you move to a free membership:
- Private images on your profile become public automatically and are visible to all members
- Sensitive images are hidden entirely and will not appear on your profile until premium is restored
If you are considering downgrading, review your profile images beforehand to make sure you are comfortable with the outcome.
Image Sharing in Chat
Once you are in a conversation, both free and premium members can share images directly. Images shared in chat are private to that conversation and are not visible to anyone outside of it.
Sensitive images shared in chat are blurred by default. The recipient can tap to reveal them. This is a courtesy feature — not a gate. Once an image is shared in a conversation, it is between you and the other person.
What Recipients Can Do With Your Images
D8 cannot prevent someone from screenshotting or saving an image you share. Sharing an image — on your profile or in chat — carries inherent trust. Our Community Standards prohibit redistributing images shared in private without explicit consent, and violations are taken seriously.
Share thoughtfully.
