Profile Content Guidelines
Your profile is your introduction to the D8 community. These guidelines apply to all text content on your profile — your bio, prompts, and any other fields you fill out.
What Makes a Great Profile?
Your bio and profile prompts are your chance to give people a real sense of who you are — not just what you look like. The members who get the most meaningful connections tend to be the ones who show up authentically and give others something genuine to respond to.
Be specific "I love hiking" is fine. "I drag my friends up trails they immediately regret and somehow convince them to do it again" is a conversation starter. Specific details are more interesting and more memorable than generic descriptions.
Say what you're actually looking for Whether you're looking for a life partner, a close friend, or an ethical non-monogamous connection, being upfront about your intentions saves everyone time and attracts the right people.
Let your personality come through Humor, warmth, curiosity, passion — whatever makes you you belongs in your profile. A profile that sounds like everyone else's won't stand out.
Don't leave it blank A profile with no bio is a missed opportunity. Even a few honest sentences are better than nothing. People want to know who they're connecting with before they reach out.
Be Honest
Your profile should accurately represent who you are and what you're looking for. Misrepresenting your age, relationship status, location, or intentions isn't just against our guidelines — it wastes everyone's time, including yours.
Keep It Respectful
The same standards that apply to how you treat people in conversation apply to your profile. Content that is hateful, discriminatory, or intended to demean any person or group is not permitted.
This means no slurs, no hate speech, and no content that targets people based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or any other characteristic.
No Contact Information
Your profile may not include phone numbers, email addresses, social media handles, or links to external platforms. This protects you as much as it protects others — keep conversations on D8 until you're ready to share that information directly.
No Solicitation
Profiles may not be used to solicit money, promote services, advertise businesses, or recruit members to other platforms or communities. D8 is a relationship platform, not a marketplace.
No Explicit Sexual Content
Profile text should be appropriate for the context of introduction. Explicit sexual language or graphic descriptions are not permitted in profile fields regardless of your community sphere.
No Misinformation
Do not make false claims about yourself, others, or D8 itself. This includes fake credentials, fabricated relationship statuses, or misleading descriptions of your intentions.
A Note on Photos
Profile photo guidelines are covered separately. See our Image Guidelines for what is and isn't permitted in your photos.
